Water and Sewerage Rebate

What is it?

The Water and Sewerage Rebate is available to community members with an eligible concession card to reduce their water and sewerage charges and assist with the cost of living.

From 1 July 2017, the water and sewerage rebate and the energy and utility concession will be combined into a single Utilities Concession at a maximum rebate of $604.00 per household. Please see Utilities Concession for further information regarding eligibility and application.

Water & Sewerage Rebate (prior to 1 July 2017)

Eligible applicants can apply for a retrospective rebate on their water and sewerage charges for a maximum period of two years prior to their application date. For any period prior to 1 July 2017, there is a maximum rebate of 68% provided (from the supply charge only) for each eligible quarter. It does not include consumption charges.

The property to which the account relates must be the sole or principle place of residence of the person applying for the rebate. The applicant must be listed on the title of the property as owner or part owner.

Eligible applicants must be the primary holder of one of the following concession cards: Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card, Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) Pensioner Concession Card and DVA Gold Card holders.

The primary card holder’s name must be the first name appearing on the concession card. The primary card holder’s name and address must be the same as the name and address appearing on the account.

Rebates can only be claimed from the start date of the primary card holder’s concession card.
