An indicative timeframe of three months applies to the determination of objections relating to any of the above matters. The three months commences on the day on which the objection is received by the ACT Revenue Office. It excludes time spent awaiting the receipt of further information requested by the Office from other persons or from sources external to the Office e.g. the objector, the Government Solicitor’s Office, the Australian Valuation Office.
Payroll Tax, Land Tax, Duty
An indicative timeframe of six months applies to objections relating to Payroll Tax, Land Tax and Duty matters. The six months commences on the day the objection is received by the ACT Revenue Office. It excludes time spent awaiting the receipt of further information requested by the Office from other persons or from sources external to the Office e.g. the objector, the Government Solicitor’s Office, the Australian Valuation Office.
Assessment of objections
All objections are assessed as complex or non-complex depending on matters such as the substantive area of law involved and the complexity of the applicable factual situation. The above indicative timeframes do not apply to complex matters; however, the ACT Revenue Office will attempt to finalise such matters within 12 months, and to provide six monthly updates on progress to the objector involved. The 12 months excludes time spent awaiting the receipt of further information requested by the Office from other persons or from sources external to the Office e.g. the objector, the Government Solicitor’s Office, the Australian Valuation Office.
The above indicative timeframes will be reviewed from time to time in light of the objections workload.
