Where and how to pay

This page provides information on how and where payments to the ACT Revenue Office can be made, including online payments.  Cheques or postal orders must be made payable to ACT Revenue Office (excluding cheques for the Home Loan Portfolio).  Further information on payment policy and methods is detailed in circular GEN003.1 [RTF, 1.5Mb][PDF, 35Kb].

Payment information is grouped as follows:

Duties, taxes and fees

Payment of the following duties, taxes and fees can be made by post or in person.  Address details are available at Customer Service Centre.   

  • Credit card payments (Visa and Mastercard only) are limited to amounts up to $5,000.  Multiple or part-payment by credit card will not be accepted.
  • BPAY or EFT payments (debit only) can be made after electronic lodgment of monthly return.
  • Cheque payments for duty are limited to $5,000 for personal, $20,000 for solicitor's business account and unlimited for solicitor's trust account.

Duty on the registration and transfer of registration of a motor vehicle

Pay duty on the purchase of a new or used motor vehicle at Canberra Connect Shopfronts (external site) or at the time of registration or transfer of registration at the Road Transport Authority (external site).
