City centre marketing and improvements levy

Description

The City Centre Marketing and Improvements Levy (CCMIL) funds marketing and improvements in Canberra's City Centre.  The levy applies to all rateable commercial properties in the City and some selected areas of benefit in Braddon and Turner that are in close proximity to the City Centre.  The CCMIL is returned to the private sector through a grant.

Levy amount

The CCMIL in 2011-12 is imposed on rateable commercial properties within the prescribed collection area as follows:

Area A – Retail Core                    AUV  x  0.2992%

Area B – Non Retail Core              AUV  x  0.2161%

Payment

The amount imposed for the CCMIL for each liable property, together with the payment details, are included on your 2011-12 CCMIL Assessment Notice.  Annual CCMIL assessments are due to be paid in full by 15 August.

Exchange of information

To assist in the identification and assessment of ACT taxes and grants we exchange information with other Revenue Offices and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). 

The exchange of information with other Revenue Offices is in accordance with part 9 of the Taxation Administration Act 1999 (ACT) and similar legislation in the States and the Northern Territory.  The exchange of information with the ATO is in accordance with subsection 355-65 (5) Schedule 1 of the Taxation Administration Act 1953 (Cth).
