About Us

Our Objective

The ACT Revenue Office assists the ACT Government to develop a simple and equitable tax system for the ACT and to implement administrative and regulatory processes for the collection of revenue which are efficient and cost effective for the Government and taxpayers.

The ACT Revenue Office is a division (Revenue Management Division) within the Department of Treasury. The ACT Revenue Office has the following sections:

Advice and Assessments

This section is responsible for the operation of the Customer Service Centre, administers tax laws and provides advice relating to ACT taxes.

Compliance

This section is responsible for maintaining and enforcing compliance with all taxes administered by the ACT Revenue Office.

Finance and Reporting

This section provides financial management and reporting services for Revenue Management Division. It also administers the Home Loan Portfolio on behalf of the ACT Commissioner for Housing.

Policy and Systems

This section is responsible for policy advice on ACT taxation matters, the development and amendment of ACT's taxation legislation, and the development and maintenance of IT systems used by the ACT Revenue Office.  An independent unit in the section deals with all objections for assessments and decisions and any subsequent appeals.

Revenue Accounts

This section administers Rates, Land Tax, Payroll Tax and other return taxes and maintains revenue accounts, including debt recovery.
